Get it on your phone

The app installs on the phone that will send the texts. Point your phone camera at this QR to start the download.

What is this app?

It runs on your connected Android phone and does the actual sending. It receives messages you send from the web and sends them via the phone's own carrier line — not a server on your behalf. That's why there's no per-message SMS/MMS fee.

Requirements

An Android phone
A carrier plan that can send text & images (SMS/MMS)
A workspace account (for QR pairing)

Install · about 3 minutes

1
Download the APK

Downloading straight to the phone you will use is fastest. If you downloaded on a PC, move the file to the phone by cable or cloud.

  1. Point the phone camera at the QR above to download on the phone itself.
  2. If the browser warns that “this type of file can harm your device”, tap Continue / OK — that prompt always appears for files not from a store.
  3. The file usually lands in Files (My Files) › Downloads.
2
Allow installs from unknown sources

Grant install permission to the app that will open the APK (your browser or file manager). Each app is allowed separately.

  1. Settings › Security & privacy (or Apps)
  2. More security settings › Install unknown apps (on some phones: Special app access › Install unknown apps)
  3. Pick the app that will open the APK — Chrome if you downloaded with Chrome, Files if you will open it there
  4. Turn on Allow from this source.
3
Open the APK and install

Tap the downloaded file to start the installer.

  1. Open Files (My Files) and go to the Downloads folder
  2. Tap messageflow-sender….apk
  3. Review the permissions shown, then tap Install.
If Play Protect blocks the installOnly if blocked

If the install is blocked, turn Play Protect scanning off briefly and install again. You do not need to turn it off otherwise.

  1. Open the Google Play Store app
  2. Tap your profile icon (top right) › Play Protect
  3. Tap the settings (gear) icon at the top right
  4. Turn off “Scan apps with Play Protect” and “Improve harmful app detection”.
  5. Once the install finishes, turn it back on in the same place.
Turn it back on after installing

Play Protect guards your whole phone — do not leave it off. You can verify our app yourself with the signing fingerprint (SHA-256) shown below.

4
Allow restricted settings → turn on SMSImportant

Android locks messaging permissions for apps installed outside a store. If SMS is greyed out and untappable on the permissions screen: Settings › Apps › MessageFlow › ⋮ (top right) › “Allow restricted settings”, then go back and turn SMS on.

Skip this step and nothing will ever send

With SMS permission locked, install and pairing still look fine — the device even shows as connected. Only sending fails, and it fails silently. After installing, confirm SMS is granted in the app permissions.

5
Pair by QR

Scan the QR on your workspace “Devices” screen to connect instantly.

Menu names vary a little by manufacturer and Android version (for example “Security & privacy” vs “Security”, “My Files” vs “Files”). If you cannot find it, search Settings for “unknown apps”.
